The film
Control is an illusion.
Set in the 1990s, Backstabbers is more than a thriller-comedy. It confronts the damage caused by expecting a perfect partner and the violence of toxic masculinity. Each character’s flaw is exposed, and each receives a comeuppance.
At the center is Ava, a meticulous criminal lawyer secretly balancing multiple obsessive lovers. She has spent years convincing herself that she controls every part of her life. Over one chaotic night, that confidence collapses—and she must decide what taking control actually means.

Approach
Couples’ therapy with knives.
Ava’s house becomes an isolated pressure chamber where a breakup mutates into a love-triangle death match. Gore, traps, chase sequences, awkward confessions, and biting dialogue move at a breakneck pace while the comedy stays rooted in character.
